While dealing with the loss of a close friend, I created this private memorial. Details like the battalion number and an American flag have been located throughout as subtle reminders.
The design intent was to create a vessel that housed various keepsakes in remembrance of a fallen soldier.
The project started with thoughtful planning and preparation to insure that all the bends and joints aligned properly.
After the brass was stamped with a press the outer profile was cut by hand.
The order of the bends was important to allow clearance of the forming stakes
The seam of the box needed to be pre-cut to allow for it to open and close
After a few more bends the seams will all be ready to solder and the doors will added.  The hinges were specially designed to not interfere with the vessel contents and to allow for a clear swing.
