This is a remote controlled  mechanical hand that taps its fingers.  This piece was inspired by a girl impatiently waiting at a health clinic.
The PVC wedge attached to the belt lifts the spring loaded fingers up off the plate.  Lace wood is used for the fingers to imitate muscle fibers.
As the wedge passes the fingers drop, creating a tapping sound on the aluminum plate.
13 reducing gears drive the belt that controls the tapping of the fingers.  This piece shows how seemingly simple motions are often complex.  All of the machining was done by myself.
